Simplifying how metagenomics data is shared

Sharing metagenomics data is essential for reproducibility and large-scale analysis. Yet the process is often complex and time consuming. Researchers have developed subMG, a tool that streamlines submission of metagenomics datasets to the European Nucleotide Archive.

The tool brings together files and metadata in a single workflow. It supports sequencing reads, assemblies, genome bins and metagenome-assembled genomes.

subMG automates many of the manual steps required for submission. This reduces technical barriers and saves time for researchers. It is available as both a command line tool and a graphical interface. Clear documentation and example workflows support different user needs.

By making data submission easier, subMG encourages more complete and consistent data sharing. This strengthens reproducibility and supports large-scale comparative studies.

The tool contributes to more FAIR metagenomics data, improving accessibility and reuse across the scientific community.
